Re-establishing smiles to be beautiful and healthy is simple when utilising porcelain veneers. Teeth that are chipped, discoloured, have gaps or misaligned often cause people to feel embarrassed and self-conscious. Porcelain veneers hide undesirable defects that can be caused by a wide variety of reasons such as sporting injuries or root canal treatment.
Veneers are very thin fingernail like shells of tooth coloured porcelain that are custom made to be bonded to the front surface of your tooth. They improve the appearance of stained, chipped or crooked teeth, especially front teeth. They are highly aesthetic and conserve sound tooth structure. The result of veneers is a long-lasting restoration that mimics the natural tooth structure.
What does the procedure entail?
When you have your consultation at Brunswick Dental Group, we will assess your individual situation and examine the health of your teeth and gums. Importantly, we will discuss the goals that you wish to achieve, and will investigate what colour shade changes you would like to achieve for a brighter, more attractive smile.
Our dentists will carefully and lightly buff your tooths surface to remove some of the enamel, which enables us to get the strongest of bonds to your tooth. The amount of enamel removed depends on the requirements of each individual tooth and the thickness of the veneer. Removing some enamel prevents the tooth from looking oversized, which would occur if the veneer were simply placed on top.
From here our dentists will make an impression mould of your teeth and gum-line.
A temporary covering may be made while the lab makes the veneers. On your final visit your veneers are cemented into place.
